November 29th 2007
VanDusen Botanical Gardens

Despite a significant increase in the number of women graduates at all levels in the life sciences, there has not been a concurrent rise in the number of women holding upper management positions within industry or holding professorships at universities. This may be due to a number of factors that will be addressed at Creating Connections. The topics covered will be of interest to everyone, although there will be an emphasis on the female perspective.

Building Biotech: A Risky Business

September 26th 2007

This event highlighted the exciting, yet risky nature of starting and running a biotech company. Several parties take part in the formation of a company and all take on certain amount of risk. We heard from scientists, venture capitalists, and biotech executives and learn about how each share in the stakes of forming a biotech company and how willingness to take on risk has become the underlying energy in BC’s growing biotech sector.
