About

The Student Biotechnology Network, together with Health Canada, welcomes students to attend Career Connect: Government. Students will learn about the different career paths that exist in the Canadian Government relating to the biotechnology sector and beyond (i.e.: at NSERC, CIHR, Health Canada, etc.)

Employees of varying seniority will share their career stories on why they decided to work in Government and which skills they had to develop to succeed in their career and achieve the positions that they currently have.

The speakers will present an employment history (from graduating University to their current position), why they chose to work in Government, and how their previous experiences helped to them get their positions and succeed in their roles.

They will outline the duties performed in their roles, the challenges and the highlights of their positions, what they do on a regular day, the kind of growth that is available within their organizations, and discuss the transferable nature of the skills that are honed for working in a Government agency.
