Frequently Asked Questions

Career Connect Technology Transfer is brought to you by the Student Biotechnology Network and the Simon Fraser University (SFU) Innovation Office (formerly University Industry Liaison Office). The SFU Innovation Office facilitates the creation of new university-industry research and development partnerships, and commercializes the results of University based research with a view to contributing to economic growth and diversification, in British Columbia and Canada, through the creation of new businesses and new jobs.

Employees of the Innovation Office will share their career stories, discuss why they decided to work in Technology Transfer, and which skills they had to have and/or develop to succeed in their careers and achieve their positions.

Meet Dr. Ernest McEachern, CEO and co-founder of Alectos Therapeutics Inc., a SFU spin-off dedicated to the discovery and development of small molecule therapeutics. Currently, Alectos Therapeutics Inc. has several compounds in the pipeline for treating oncological and neurological disorders; and is partnering with Merck to advance their Alzheimer’s disease program.
