LifeSciences BC Breakfast Speaking Event Featuring Dr. Brendan Byrne, Vice President, TELUS Physicia

LifeSciences BC is pleased to welcome Dr. Brendan Byrne as the keynote speaker for the next LifeSciences BC Breakfast Speaking Event taking place Thursday, January 9.

TELUS Health has identified five key issues where health information and TELUS’ communications technology can make a positive difference:

• Chronic disease management
• Medication errors and non-compliance
• Long wait times and poor access
• Lack of focus on prevention and patient self-management
• The need for performance improvement

Dr. Byrne is the Vice President of TELUS Physician Solutions, a new business dedicated to helping physicians improve productivity and clinical outcomes. A practicing physician himself, he is a graduate of Yale University and McGill’s Faculty of Medicine, and has over 20 years of experience in family practice, including seven years as the director of the Columbia Medical Clinic.

Prior to joining TELUS Health, Dr. Byrne founded Wolf Medical Systems, the largest cloud-based electronic medical record (EMR) provider in Canada. He directed the evolution of Wolf from its inception in 1998 to its current rank as one of the fastest growing EMR companies in Canada. Dr. Byrne is recognized as a leading physician specializing in computing in North America, and has addressed many medical and computing conferences on the importance of leveraging data at the point of care.

Before Dr. Byrne’s presentation, Penelope Wood, Vice President, Commercialization and Angela Robert, CEO and Co-Founder, from GenomeDx and Conquer Mobile, respectively, will provide a brief update on their companies’ work.
